OUR FAMILY

Hi, Let us introduce ourselves.

In November of 2016, Andrew and Hayley accepted their first assignment to work as Global Missionaries with Global Missions of the Church of the Nazarene. Our first missionary assignment took us to El Paso, Texas located at the US/Mexico border. From there we helped support the Nazarene Border Initiative, and we also helped to build a fabric of care for the teenage and young adult children of Nazarene missionaries around the globe through events like Rendezvous. Our time in El Paso has been cherished, but now we are looking into the future with anticipation of our next assignment in Poznań, Poland.

Andrew was born and raised in Scotland. His home district was the British Isles North District of the Church of the Nazarene and first felt a call to missions as a 16 year old attending General Assembly in 1997 in San Antonio. After 3 months volunteering in Bulgaria (’99), Andrew moved to the US to study Youth Ministry at Olivet Nazarene University. In 2005, after graduating from ONU, he began working as a youth pastor at Legacy Church of the Nazarene in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. In 2011 Andrew and Hayley moved to a small town called Hope where Andrew was the lead pastor of a Church of the Nazarene until February of 2017 when they moved to El Paso as Nazarene Missionaries.

Hayley grew up on the Intermountain District of the Church of the Nazarene in Nampa Idaho. While studying Graphic Design at Olivet Nazarene University (’06), Hayley spent 2 summers volunteering with Youth In Mission in Frankfurt Germany (’04) & Kansas City (’06). While ministering with Andrew in Canada, Hayley ran her own Graphic Design business. Through her Graphics, volunteering with the youth group, and running several district trips, camps and retreats, Hayley developed many skills that are invaluable in our ministering to young adults, and in developing communications strategies.

We have 2 boys and a girl. Samuel was born in 2012, Rees in 2016 and Emily in 2019. Samuel & Rees spent their first 5 years/8 months (respectively) living in the small town of Hope, British Columbia, Canada. Samuel has been in 3rd Grade (Primary 4) in a public school in El Paso, and he loves to draw, build with LEGO and have dance parties. Rees loves to play with anything that has wheels. Emily loves to engage with her big brothers and do whatever they are doing!

Birthdays // Samuel: April 15, 2012, Rees: June 11, 2016, and Emily: June 19, 2019

MINISTRIES

What we’ll be doing in Poznań.

In Poznań, we will partner with university students, with young families through school, with young professionals in the Sweet Surrender Coffee Shop, and with fellow missionaries, our old friends, the Sunbergs. We are excited about this opportunity because we feel that we have been created to partner with young adults as they figure out who they are and what the Kingdom of God offers their local context.

Our role will primarily focus around 3 key parts:

1) Building community in Poznań,

2) Development of youth leadership for the Central Europe Field (an area including 10 countries/8 districts of the Church of the Nazarene)

3) Communicate about the ministry and impact of the Church across the field.

In order to serve well, we will invest in the community, build genuine friendships, and walk alongside local leaders. Learning Polish will become a top priority as speaking the local language will further allow us to develop relationships, presence, and vision.
